Advice and answers from the Notarize Team

Once you’ve filled in your document and selected “Done”:

  • You will be prompted to go through the ID verification process. Select “CONTINUE TO ID VERIFICATION”
  •       Provide the requested information *
  •       Select “Save and Continue”
  • Next you will be prompted to answer 5 security questions in 2 minutes.  These questions involve the kind of background information each person is likely to know about himself or herself:
  •       Select “Get Started”
  •       Answer the security questions **
  •       If you fail to answer at least 4 of the 5 questions correctly, you will have the         opportunity to answer the security questions one more time.  (Some new             questions may be included in the next set of questions provided to you.)
  • If you fail to correctly answer at least four security questions correctly in your second attempt, you will be prevented from any additional attempts for a period of 24 hours, after which you may try again.
  • Once you’ve successfully answered the security questions, you will be be invited to continue by taking a picture of your photo ID.
  •       Select “Continue”
  • Allow your web browser to access your camera by selecting “Allow” from Chrome or “Share Selected Device” in Firefox.
  • When prompted, take a picture of the front and the back of your photo ID.
  • You will be given the option to add a secondary form of ID if your document requires it. Otherwise, click “Skip.”
  •       Most documents will not require a secondary form of ID
  •       Some documents may require a secondary form of ID. You will be able to             provide this after you upload your first form of Identification.  If your                     document requires a secondary form of ID, it will likely list what documents         or forms of ID are acceptable.
  • You will then see a box that appears which will explain the cost of the notarization ($25 per notary seal).
  • By selecting “Accept Charges and Connect” you agree to the charges. You will then be connected to a notary.

 * At the moment, we require you to enter the last four digits of a U.S. Social security number to use in assembling the security questions to verify your identity. We are actively working to build a solution to support foreign citizens who need to Notarize their signatures on documents relating to court proceedings, property or transactions which are either in the US or substantially connected to the US.  (US-based notaries cannot notarize signatures on documents which have to substantial connection or relationship to US property, court proceedings or transactions).
**If you are currently traveling or residing outside of the United States, please enter your current US address or most recent address at which you resided for an extended period of time.
