Understanding Transaction Statuses
When you view your transactions, you'll be able to see the status of each transaction in the Status column. Below is a list of statuses you might see and what they mean.
Status | Explanation |
Active |
You would only see this if you suppress emails to your customers or are using our API to directly connect your signers to Notarize (not by sending an email). |
Sent |
The transaction has been sent. Your client will receive an email from noreply@notarize.com with a link to start their transaction. |
Received |
Your client received the transaction email. No action has been taken. |
Viewed |
Your client selected the link in the transaction email and has viewed their transaction on the Notarize platform. No further action has been taken. |

Attempted  |
Your client has attempted to connect with one of the notaries in the Notarize Network, but they have been unsuccessful in completing the transaction. The reason for cancelation can be found under the history tab on the transaction details page. |
Partially Complete |
At least one signer has completed a multi-signer transaction, and one signer has not. |
Completed with Rejections |
A subset of documents is complete. 🚨 Important: If the signer needs to complete the remaining documents, a new transaction needs to be sent. No edits can be made on the completed documents. |
Completed | The transaction is complete! You can view and download the completed documents as long as there has been a successful payment. |
Expired | The transaction date or window set when the transaction was created has expired. A new transaction must be created. It may be possible to extend an expiration date that has not passed. Contact Support for assistance. |
