Follow the guide to obtain your DigiCert digital certificate. You can complete agreements on the platform after you get your certificate.
Make sure you have a valid form of identification (a passport is the preferred form of ID. If a current passport is not available, use your driver’s license) and a mobile device ready to use before beginning the process.
Step 1
- Log in to your notary profile on the Notarize platform.
- Navigate to your profile settings, and select Digital Certificate.
- Refresh the page.
Step 2
Open the Digicert Certificate drop-down menu.
- The required steps are listed to register your DigiCert Certificate with your Notary Account.
Step 3
Enter your Notarize email account into Step 1 on the page and select Send Email.
Step 4
Navigate to your email inbox and check for an email with the subject line, “Verify your identity with IDnow AutoIdent.”
Step 5
Select the link in the email to download the version of the IDnow AutoIdent app compatible with your mobile device.
Step 6
Open the IDnow AutoIdent app on your mobile device and enter the validation code from the email into the app. Tap .

Step 7
Follow the steps in the app to complete the IDnow identification process.

Show the front of your ID.

Show the back of your ID.
Step 7.3
Tilt your ID in different directions to showcase security features.
Step 7.4
Take a video selfie.
Step 7.5
Complete the IDnow verification process by selecting Finish.
Step 8
Check your email for communications from DigiCert.
- Note: The communications can take up to 30 minutes to receive after completing the IDNow process.
Step 9
Navigate to the email with the subject line “Update Your Account” from no-reply@digicert.com and select the green Update your Account button.
Step 10
Create a DigiCert password.
- Once the password is successfully updated, you see the below screen that confirms your account was updated.
Step 11
Navigate to the email with the subject line “Authorize credential using Authorization QR Code” from no-reply@digicert.com.

- Download the Google Authenticator app to your mobile device.

- Download the Google Authenticator app to your mobile device.

If Google Authenticator is installed on your device:
- Open Google Authenticator on your mobile device.
- Open the QR code attached to the email.

- Select the plus sign in the bottom right corner of the Google Authenticate application on your mobile device.
- Scan the QR code.
- DigiCert appears in your Google Authenticator app once the code has been scanned and successfully connected, as shown below.
- Select the plus sign in the bottom right corner of the Google Authenticate application on your mobile device.
- You need this multi-factor authentication set up to log in to your DigiCert account and complete agreements.
Step 12
Navigate to the email with the subject line “Validation Approved” from no-reply@digicert.com and select the blue Log in button.
Step 13
Log in to DigiCert and accept the Terms of Use.
- The platform directs you to the DigiCert homepage.
Step 14
Log in to your notary profile on Notarize and navigate to settings.
Step 15
Select Sign in to DigiCert under Step 2.
Step 16
Sign in to DigiCert.
Step 17
Verify that your DigiCert is uploaded correctly to your notary profile by refreshing the page and checking for the “Your digital certificate is all set!” message at the bottom of the screen. Select Save Changes.
