Notarize is the first remote electronic notary service. Virginia recently passed a law that allows their notaries to perform notarizations by live video call. They also gave their notaries permission to help clients nationwide.
To get started, you can use any computer (Windows or Mac operating system), an Apple mobile device (such as iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch), or an Android mobile device. (Our platform currently supports Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Safari). If you're using your computer, simply navigate to www.notarize.com and click on "Let's Get Started." If you're using your iPhone or other Apple mobile device, you just need to download the Notarize app from the App Store. If you're using an Android mobile device, our app is available for downloading at the Play Store. You will then upload your document, fill it out, and connect with a notary by live video call. Just like an in-person notarization, they will watch you sign the document. You simply sign on your screen using your finger on the iPhone or Android device or by typing your signature on your computer.
Once you've signed, they'll notarize the document by applying their signature, seal and other info. When you're done, you'll receive an email with retrieval instructions for your document. You can download it to print out or you can share it electronically, whichever you'd like.
The whole process only takes a few minutes.
